Wouldn't you know it? Out in the recesses of the Internet, thrives a growing cult of BETAMAX believers... but that's not the subject of this post.
There's a show on PBS called The Red Green Show, and it's absolutely hilarious!!!
There's a great story on the website about the fast pace of technology. The text is here in case they remove it soon:
Has Technology Passed You By?
I want to talk to you older guys who are reaching that age where suddenly you don't understand how anything works any more. I had an appointment in the city last week and when the meeting was over I asked to use the phone. Before I picked it up, I remember asking 'How does this work?' What I meant of course was do I have to press a special button for an outside line or do I have to hit '9' first or do I just dial. And it struck me as odd that 130 years after the telephone was invented, we're still asking 'How does this work?' And that makes you feel like an idiot. But it's not you, it's them! You know, them. The people who do things just to bug you. Remember your old record player, all you had to decide was 33 or a 45 rpm, and the size of the record was a big hint. Now sound systems have equalizers and Dolby five point one and so on. Hey if your ears can't tell the difference between AM and FM, what do you need with a dual mono preamplifier and electrostatic hybrid speakers with non metallic carbon fiber interconnects? So stop feeling that you're a complete moron from the stone ages. Because one day it'll all come back. Remember digital watches? Now everybody's going back to sweep hands. I'm telling you in six months they're' going to admit Beta really was better then VHS and switch back. And I'll be riding the crest of that wave, believe me.
