Grandma Childers is legendary for cooking with alternate ingredients. Grandpa is well-known for his yeh-boo! stories. This is a tribute to both of them:
Mom and Dad gave us an Ice Cream maker for our anniversary... yeh
But we didn't have the ingredients... boo
So, we went out and bought stuff to make Coffee Ice Cream... yeh
But Chantell's trying to limit caffeine during the pregnancy... boo
So we used Decaffeinated coffee grounds... yeh
Except Jeff can't read. The recipe calls for INSTANT COFFEE and he's already thrown it in the mix... boo. bozo. boo
But we have coffee filters and I filtered out the grounds... yeh
Well, most of the grounds boo
Chantell's avoiding uncooked eggs during the pregnancy... boo... err...yeh
The recipe calls for cooking the eggs... yeh... err... yeah, yeh
But the mixture is too hot and Jeff poaches 'em... BOO
But we have coffee filters... Yeh! Oh forget it!
Anyway, despite all my Childerian mistakes the ice cream turned out fantastic!!! I think the coffee grounds actually turned out being pretty good and I'll likely do that again. But now that I know how to do the eggs, we won't have the occasionally rubbery surprise in future recipes.
Cheers Grandma and Grandpa!
