Salem has become quite the assistant. She helps with everything; dishes, sweeping, yard work, remodeling, showers, fix-ups, and even potty breaks...
For some time, she has been helping us unload the dishwasher. She'll hand the plates and bowls up for us to put in the cabinet. Which is great, when we're actually unloading it!
She likes to drag the broom around the driveway because that's what her mum and da do. Of course, she tries to sneak the broom across the street to her boyfriend's (2-yr old Bryan) house.
She helps throw piles of leaves and pine needles in the trash. She often gives our mulch (pine needles) to the neighbors. She's pulled grass when I'm pulling weeds and she's plucked leaves from the bushes when we're trying to pull out the laropi (sp) growing in the middle of them.
Last night she scratched at the walls we were scraping wallpaper off the upstairs bathroom.
She hands me my towel when I get out of the shower (but only if you say "Where's my shower helper?").
She hands me my tools when I need them (when she hasn't taken off with them).
Perhaps my favorite helper is the potty helper: you tell her you have to go potty. She stands up to lead you to the bathroom. She'll lift the lid and point in the bowl and say *there*... insisting that you take a seat. Which is all very cute except she also waits there until you finish!
I can only hope that one day she will take out the trash with as much enthusiasm, but for now I'm enjoying our little helper.
