Papa's Visit

My dad was able to come down for the long Labor Day weekend (he couldn't stand not seeing Salem any longer). We had a great time together. I've added a few pictures taken during his visit. They're split between the August and (new) September photo albums.

Dream Sequence

If you've received our holiday newsletter in the past or have been reading our website for a while, you know that Chantell talks in her sleep. Often, I can even carry on a conversation with her, although this was not one of those times.

This morning, I awoke to her incredulous exclamation "People don't live in refrigerators!"

House Remodeling Completions

We've just wrapped up two more "remodeling" jobs at the house (the first was painting a couple "appliances" in the kitchen): the guest bedroom and upstairs bath.

For any of you who saw the guest room in its original state (the horse border) you'll notice it is much more appealing to the eyes.

As for the bathroom, it wasn't much to speak of to begin with. It was very drab. Now, it has a kiddy-oriented theme: rubber ducky.

Both were WAY more work than we anticipated, and as is always the case required an estimated 107 "last" trips to the hardware store.

There's a few pictures in the August album if you're interested in seeing the results as well as a new pic of Salem caught in the act of casting off her diaper.

A Couple of New Things

We received the nice child tax rebate last week... compliments of Bush's "risky tax scheme." We put it to good used and purchased a dresser and night stand for Salem's room. To see what all the hub-bub is about, check out the August photo album (yes it's just now being put up).

Erika on the Move

Chantell's been warning me about her for a few days, but the National Weather Service has just now designated Erika a tropical storm. She's a fast mover (30mph) and is expected to make landfall around Padre Island (between Corpus Christi and the Mexico border) by tomorrow. We're not in immediate danger (at last reading Erika is 444 miles from us), but I like to track the storms that impact the Texas coast.
